A Muslim cleric and leader of the Muslim faithfuls in Imo State, Sheik Suleman Yusuf Njoku, has described the ongoing World Muslim League Conference taking place in Abuja as a positive development that underscores unity in Nigeria. He stated this during an interaction with journalists at the International Conference Centre, Abuja—the venue of the conference.

According to him, justice and unity are indispensable ingredients for any meaningful national development. He maintained that, in Nigeria’s case, the guiding principles of unity and justice should keep the country together as one united nation, regardless of differences in religion, tribe, or cultural background.

Speaking further, Sheik Yusuf Njoku urged Nigerians to discard hatred, selfish interests, tribalism, and every other factor that pulls a nation downward. He also emphasized that the nation must harness its diversity constructively, noting that if Nigerians properly manage their differences, things will work out for the country.

He cautioned Nigerians against allowing religion to become a tool for division, and advised them to dissociate themselves from any individual or group seeking to use religious influence to pursue personal ambitions at the expense of the State. He advocated that people should disengage from such unholy conduct—whether championed by an Imam, a Bishop, or political leaders.

The cleric warned those using religion to fragment Nigeria or to sideline any region of the country. He stressed that the Holy Quran enjoins believers to seek justice, fairness, and righteousness, assuring that doing so will yield rewards. He concluded bluntly that anyone using Islam to divide the people is not a true Muslim.
