We Call Him Akpaku Rescue , Akpaku Wonder, Every Local Government Area is a Construction Site says Comr Scott Aigbonvia NULGE President Edo State. By CHINONYEREM IGWE, Abuja

The President, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Edo State, Comrade Dr. Scott Aigbovia, has described the Governor of Edo State’s recently concluded local government council summit as one of the most impactful conferences ever held for local government administration in Nigeria in recent years.
Speaking to a team of journalists at the Mariam Babangida Women Development Centre, Abuja, Dr. Aigbovia said the conference was not only well-organised but also consequential in advancing the cause of grassroots governance. He noted that, being the third tier of government and the level closest to the people, local government administration remains the most direct avenue through which democratic dividends can be felt.
According to him, the summit also focused on the political development of the country, particularly as it relates to the present and future dispensation of local government administration. Dr. Aigbovia commended the leadership of the Association of Local Service Commission of Nigeria across the 774 local government areas, stressing the association’s commitment to strengthening the grassroots and ensuring effective service delivery.
He further affirmed the cordial working relationship between NULGE and relevant stakeholders, describing as healthy the collaboration within Edo State under the able leadership of himself. He said the slogan “Edo is Shining and Okpebholo is Work” is not merely a campaign line but a lived reality.
Not long ago, he added, the Governor inaugurated the newly elected local government chairmen and urged them to treat local development as the cornerstone of their mandate. Dr. Aigbovia disclosed that ongoing projects are being executed across all local government areas in Edo State, reiterating that the “Shining Agenda” in the state is unprecedented in any past administration.
He remarked, “We call Akpaku Rescue, Akpaku Wonder; we cue to the Rescue Agenda. We believe in this administration.”
The Governor, he said, also assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of 2.5 million votes, affirming that Edo State will work in collaboration with the President to ensure the delivery of the state to the expectations of Mr. President. He noted that come January 16, 2026, Edo people would troop out en masse to demonstrate their support for Tinubu, insisting that “Edo is for President.”
Dr. Aigbovia also stated that workers’ welfare remains a priority of the administration, adding that the Edo State Government ensures prompt payment of salaries on or before the 25th of every month. Where the date falls on a Saturday or Sunday, he said salary alerts are promptly issued on Friday.
