Nigerian Youths Should Maximize Opportunities that Come to them- Dr Deji Michael Adebayo, Chairman FCT National Youths Organization.By CHINONYEREM IGWE. Abuja

The Chairman of the National Youth Organization of Nigeria, Dr. Deji Michael Adebayo, has urged the youths of the South South Development Commission (SSDC) to maximize every opportunity presented by the Commission in order to better shape and strengthen the future of the various components and beneficiary units of the Commission.
Dr. Deji Michael Adebayo issued this charge during a stakeholders’ interactive engagement with selected youth representatives of the South South Development Commission, comprising the six South South states resident in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to him, the essence and objectives of the youths’ engagement were to listen to their concerns, understand their challenges, and collaboratively work toward practical solutions that will advance a stronger South South region for the benefit of the nation.
Speaking on the sustainability of the programmes mapped out for the youth, Dr. Adebayo emphasized that the Commission is not a political party or a social club, but a development institution established by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to drive growth across different regions of the country—programmes that will, in turn, translate into grassroots impact.
He further stated that the Commission’s laudable initiatives have already begun yielding tangible outcomes, adding that continued engagement and participation would further strengthen these efforts.
On the issue of poor attendance by the invited youths, Dr. Adebayo said, “In every government programme, you keep trying; one day, something good will come out of it.” He also encouraged Nigerian youths to remain prepared and available whenever opportunities call.
Dr. Adebayo expressed satisfaction with the South South Development Commission for organizing the engagement and urged other development commissions to take a cue from the initiative.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of an award by the SSDC to Dr. Deji Michael Adebayo in recognition of his outstanding leadership. He thanked the Commission for the honour and pledged to do more for the good people of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
