National Association of Retired Immigration Officers (NARIO) recently held its inaugural Annual General Conference in Abuja to formally announce the birth of the Association.
The two-day Conference attracted officers from diverse ranks who had retired from active service in the Nigeria Immigration Service. During the programme, Bazelinenews seized the opportunity of engaging one of the participants, ACG Echefulam Chris Asogwa (FSI), who commended the formation of NARIO as a commendable development—one that would strengthen, unify, and advance the interests of retired Immigration personnel.
In his remarks, ACG Asogwa provided further insight into his expectations for the young Association. He stated that he anticipates NARIO will grow rapidly, in leaps and bounds, while meeting both the aspirations of its individual members and the organizational requirements. He also emphasized that many retirees have been trained with valuable skills and competencies, and that even after retirement, they remain poised to make meaningful contributions to society.
He further noted that several retired personnel are gainfully employed across various institutions, including higher learning and other sectors of the national economy, where they continue to contribute their own quota after leaving active duty.
Concluding, ACG Asogwa expressed the hope that the organization has come to stay and will become the envy of other paramilitary organizations. He also commended the Executive Committee (Excos) for successfully organizing the conference, expressing satisfaction with the turnout and level of participation of members.
