Nigeria Education. System Should be Tailored towards Acquisition of Dear and Skills to meet the Reality on Ground. Says Prof. Patrick Asuquo . By CHINONYEREM IGWE, Abuja


A Professor at College of Education,Akamkpa in Cross River State, Prof  Joseph has stressed.the need to combined degree or certificate with skills acquisition while still.studing within school environment.

The Prof made the call recently  at National Commission for College of Education Headquarters, Abuja during a four day work shop.for teacher and lecturers of Colleges of Education in Nigeria.. Speaking to journalists during the workshop,Prof Asuquo, reiterated the need to work in collaboration with National Directorate of Employment to.seek.way to make sure every greasy and that comes out from college.of education also has one skill or the other to enable.him or her to survive the changing trends in our society.

He further, disclosed that

the participants of the workshop should.also utilize this opportunity to inculcate, Skills to the study as soon as they go back to their various institutions.

Prof. Asuquo believed that the idea of bringing the Germans to come and deliver lectures and educate Nigerian on the need to run tertiary education with skills as a welcome development and further urged those in authority and policy makers to implement resolution reached at the end of the workshop.

According to the erudite scholar, said that they are preparing for a generation,not a generation but one that will not only rely only on their certificates but one that can make use of skills acquired to better the society and become self employed fellow.

In conclusion, Prof. Asuquo  promised that knowledge he and other colleagues acquire from this workshop they would go back to their respective institution to delibrate on it come come out with solutions to enable students to come out both with certificates and skill knowledge that could put food on their table after graduation.

He applauded the effort of the organizers and hope such a workshop to  be coming from time to time.Over two hundred participants came from various colleges of education.
