Institute of Appraisal and Cost Gives Seal of Practice to deserving members . By CHiNONYEREM IGWE Abuja

The National Chairman of the Institute of Appraisal and Cost Engineering in Nigeria, Engr. Bello Kwallii, has described the induction of new members into the Institute as a significant milestone for every practicing appraisal and cost engineer in the country.
Speaking to journalists after the induction ceremony at Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, he stated that the induction represents the final step through which any appraisal and cost engineer affirms the authenticity and credibility of his credentials. He further noted that, with induction, members would no longer be viewed as “quarks” within the profession.
Engr. Bello reiterated the critical role of appraisal and cost engineering in the evaluation and design of any structure. According to him, as engineers trained in valuation and cost analysis, members of the Institute deserved recognition and should be regarded as valuable engineering assets—particularly in the areas of engineering assets valuation.
In response to questions from journalists, a Fellow of the Institute, Engr. Zamani Is-hay, called on the Federal Government—through the Central Bank of Nigeria, the International Financial Reporting Council, in collaboration with the Bank of Industry and other relevant stakeholders—to enforce existing laws governing engineering appraisal and costing. He added that such enforcement would help prevent avoidable losses, thereby conserving funds that could be directed toward other developmental priorities, including private and public participation (PPP).
The occasion witnessed the induction of over thirty appraisal and cost engineers, who were presented with the seal of practice.
