An Awka High Court jails Native Doctor Mr. Chukwudozie Nwangwu also known as Akwa. Okụkụ -By CHiNONYEREM IGWE


An Anambra State High Court has today adjudicated the flamboyant and controversial native doctor, Mr. Chukwudozie Nwangwu, popularly known as Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki, to an eleven-month imprisonment following his admission of guilt to the charges leveled against him.
Chidozie Nwangwu, along with other notorious and infamous native doctors, including Eke Hit and Onyeze Jisos, was summoned before the court by the Anambra State government for engaging in money ritual practices and being implicated in activities associated with the illicit acquisition of wealth through ritualistic means, as well as other sacrificial practices.
In its ruling, the court established that the native doctor confessed to participating in money ritual practices and crafting protective charms intended for criminal elements.
He faced allegations of manufacturing talismans believed to be utilized by kidnappers and armed robbers, in addition to facilitating criminal activities through charms and other related means.
Alongside the prison sentence, the court mandated the destruction of Nwangwu’s “Oba Shrine” and stipulated that he must desist from all forms of Okeite practice and refrain from administering such charms in the future.
The court further decreed that upon the completion of his incarceration at the Awka Correctional Centre, Nwangwu must publicly renounce Okeite and similar charm practices. Additionally, he was directed to serve as an Ambassador for youth reorientation, aimed at dissuading young individuals from engaging in ritual-related endeavors.
His conviction ensued from his guilty plea to all three charges preferred against him by the state government, thereby bringing this high-profile case to a resolute conclusions
