The Local Government Area Chairman of Lau Government, Hon. Julius Peter Vou, has pledged to initiate transformative changes within the Lau Local Government Area. The Chairman made this declaration at his residence in Jalingo during a meeting with a team of reporters. Responding to inquiries from journalists, he expressed profound gratitude for being sworn in as the LGA Chairman of Lau in Taraba State.
Regarding his plans to deliver the dividends of democracy, the articulate Chairman outlined several strategic initiatives designed for his constituents, which align with the vision of His Excellency Agbu Kefas, the Executive Governor of Taraba State. He emphasized that his strategy would be inherently people-oriented, aiming to usher in development, prosperity, and progress for the Local Government Area. Furthermore, he elaborated that his administration would prioritize inclusivity, accommodating diverse perspectives to foster peace and growth.
On matters of security, Hon. Julius Peter asserted that his administration would prioritize security, recognizing it as the cornerstone of any meaningful development in Lau LGA. According to him, security is intrinsically linked to the well-being of his constituents. Given Lau's strategic location, he intends to leverage agriculture, fishing, and inter-community trade, maximizing the advantages presented by the River Benue to stimulate commerce, which is vital for the financial sustenance of the Local Government.
Continuing, Hon. Julius Peter Vou stated his commitment to fostering economic development through the enhancement of physical infrastructure, including therenovation of primary and secondary schools, thereby creating a sustainable environment conducive to learning. "We will also initiate additional physical developments in the form of town halls accessible to all ten wards in Lau LGA. A comprehensive educational transformation will be undertaken to align with the educational agenda of His Excellency Agbu Kefas, ensuring that education is both affordable and accessible to the people of Taraba,"he proclaimed. He further pledged to construct drainage systems and culverts to facilitate the mobility of the populace.
The Honorable Chairman underscored that the enhancement of the healthcare system would also be a focal point of his administration. Clinics, primary healthcare facilities, and hospitals will receive due attention, with a commitment to adequately support nurses and other healthcare professionals. He assured that essential medications would be provided to all healthcare institutions.
Concerning employment opportunities, the administration of Hon. Julius Peter plans to collaborate with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and the Nigeria Directorate of Employment to equip citizens with various skills. The Chairman indicated that soft loans and grants would be made available as initial support to ensure that the youth are productively engaged.
In conclusion, the Chairman, Hon. Julius Peter, fervently assured the people of Lau of his commitment to promoting girl-child education, despite its current inadequacies. He promised to ensure that every child has the opportunity to attend school, regardless of class or creed. He expressed gratitude to the esteemed people of Lau LGA for entrusting him with the responsibility to serve and vowed to implement an open-door policy. He also extended his thanks to His Excellency, Kefas Agbu, the Executive Governor of Taraba State.
