Sen. Dr. Banigo stresses the Importance of Food in a healthySociety. By Chinonyerem Igwe

The Distinguished Senator representing the good people of Rivers West Senatorial District in the Red Chamber,Sen. Dr Ipalibo Banigo and  immediate past Deputy Governor of  Rivers State as well  as the Chairman Senate Committee on Health has expressed her World Food Day as a day Niigeria and Nigerians should reflect on their attitudes towards food and health. She Stated this during interaction with media personnel on the commomorattion a 2025 World Food Day Celebration in Abuja. 
  She opined,"food encompasses the  following, health, agriculture, nutrition, the environment, housing and education ". She said that the afore mentioned factors were of great interest for her, because Children are malnourished, suffering from Kwashiorkor, undernourished anaemic or the pregnant mother anaemic and thus posing  a threat to the lives of the baby in the womb or of the pregnant mother.
 Sen. Banigo further explained that Health is not only is wealth ,but Food too is wealth, and that what we eat especially pregnant mother who doesn't eat very well will definitely have a baby with stunted growth and affect the unborn baby,thereby sending a negative signal that  will influence the growth of the unborn child..
 According to her, she came to grace the occasion because of the interest and passion she has for health. She used the opportunity to congrulate the sponsors, organizers, partners, development partner and stakeholders Federal Ministry of Agriculture. She , also felicitated with Farmers, processors, the communities for showing interest in making Nigeria first   "produce What you eat and eat what you produce"
